Servomech Ball Screws and Nuts

A ball screw is a mechanical system capable of converting rotary motion to linear motion or vice versa. An example of such a system is composed of a ball screw threaded shaft, a ball nut body, balls, ball re-circulation elements and wipers (when present).

One of the main ball screw features is a high efficiency obtained by rolling of balls between the screw shaft and the nut body. Where ball contact shaft and nut body, the rolling friction occurs. This feature is one of the main advantages compared to alternative solutions like an acme screws, where the screw thread surface slides directly on the nut thread surface, so the sliding friction occurs in the contact zone.

Servomech Acme Screw Jacks

Screw jacks transform a rotary motion from an electric, hydraulic or pneumatic motor or even manual operation into a linear movement in a vertical (push-pull lifting) or horizontal position.

Screw jacks can be installed as a single unit or in lifting systems with different layouts connected by drives-shafts, couplings and bevel gearboxes. Screw jacks enable the synchronised constant movement of lifting systems even with a varying load.

Servomech screw jacks are able to work under either push or pull load conditions and mounted vertically upward, downward or horizontally.

Servomech screw jacks models are available in two models:

  • travelling screw
  • travelling nut

Servomech produces two screw jacks series MA and SJ both series are available in different sizes in order to obtain the most suitable size in terms of performances and costs for each application.

Servomech Heavy Duty Cylinders

Servomech Heavy Duty Cylinders are electromechanical cylinders and are the right alternative to hydraulic cylinders offering high linear speeds, loads, precise control of positioning and high force with less energy consumption and lower installation costs.

They are available with many different and customisable configurations assemblies.
SERVOMECH heavy duty electromechanical cylinders consist of 3 main categories:

ATL, BSA, UAL, UBA series to 350 kN, parallel/right angle AC, DC and servo motors

ILA in-line series to 200 kN, fully customisable motor drive

TMA right angle series to 200 kN, fully customisable motor drive

Servomech Ball Screw Jacks

The new range of Servomech ball screw jacks exceeds the application limits of traditional acme screw jacks. High linear speeds, operations up to continuous duty cycle, no wear of the nut, zero axial clearance, exact estimation of expected lifetime, halving of energy consumption and installed power. Servomech screw jacks are able to work under either push or pull load, in different mounting positions (vertically upward/downward or horizontally). Servomech high performance ball screw jacks consist of 3 main series: MA BS Series, SJ Series, HS Series.

Servomech Bevel Gearboxes

The SERVOMECH s.p.a. bevel gearboxes BG Series is the result of an accurate and modern design technology and of the precise calculation of each single component and its assembling, which allows to ensure the declared performances with a high safety factor. Their development and production, totally “Made in Italy”, are carried out following the quality management procedures that SERVOMECH s.p.a. has adopted inside the company according to the UNI EN ISO 9001:2008 norm (the compliance of the quality management system to this standard is certified by TÜV). The robust and compact design and the high technology of the components allow high performances within small overall dimensions. The bevel gearboxes are suited also for operation with high input speed, up to 3000 rpm, with low noise level and high efficiency. The cubic shaped housing is machine finished on each side, allowing the highest flexibility in positioning and mounting.
The modular system makes different versions available, with additional outputs up to 6 shafts.

Design forms available with solid input and output shafts, with solid input shaft and hollow output shaft, hollow input shaft and flange for electric or hydraulic motor.

Several constructive designs allow the realization of different kinematic schemes to adapt the directions of the rotation as required by the application.

Output shaft angular backlash: standard max. 10arcmin; on request controlled and reduced backlash, averagely less than (5 … 6)arcmin.
Tapered roller bearings standard on all solid shafts and hollow output shaft; ball bearings on hollow input shafts for motor flange execution.
Long-life grease lubrication for applications with low input speed (see table on page 41) and not exceeding the thermal power limit.
Synthetic oil lubrication on request and in case of input speed as shown in the table on page 41.
